Smithfield, RI- With just two minutes remaining in the first half, freshman Thomas McNamara (West Nyack, NJ) scored the only goal of the night to give the Brown men’s soccer team (3-0-1) its third win of the 2009 season with a 1-0 victory over Bryant University (2-4-0).
Brown’s defense has once again proven to be outstanding, allowing the Bulldogs to just six shots, including just one on goal. Junior Paul Grandstrand (3-0-1) recorded his third shutout with the win in net today, and recorded one save.
Junior Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ) was able to beat Bulldog keeper Matt Miscione and nailed a shot that hit the left post. McNamara got the rebound and found the back of the net in the 43rd minute of play to record his first collegiate goal. Bryant’s Miscione had five saves in today’s game and moved to 2-4-0 on the season.
Brown will take on the University of Rhode
Island on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7:00 p.m.
