Providence, RI - Two members of Brown's defending Ivy League Champion men's lacrosse team - senior goalie Jordan Burke (Potomac, MD) and junior attackman Thomas Muldoon (Oakton, VA) - have been named to the 2009 Inside Lacrosse Preseason All America Team, as announced by the magazine. Burke earned first team Preseason All-American honors, while Muldoon is an honorable mention Preseason All-American selection.
A second team All-American a year ago, Burke was the Division I leader in save percentage (.674) en route to becoming the first Brown player to win Ivy League Player of the Year honors since 1995. He helped anchor a stingy Bear defense that allowed a League-best 41 goals in Ivy play.
Burke, the New England Player of the Year, became the second consecutive goalkeeper to win Ivy League Player of the Year honors, and was a unanimous first team All-Ivy and All-New England selection. He led all Ivy goalies in goals against average (6.43) while helping to lead the Brown to the program's highest win total (11) since 1994.
Also a first team All-Ivy and All-New England selection in 2008, Muldoon led Brown in scoring for the second straight season with 37 points, netting 30 goals and seven assists. His 2.14 goals per game are second in the Ivy League. He led the Ivy League with 12 man-up goals. Muldoon, who ranked 21st nationally in goals per game, was named the Ivy Player of the Week after scoring four goals against Lehigh. He also tossed in four goals vs. Hofstra. Muldoon, a Biology concentrator at Brown, has 69 career points with 53 goals and 16 assists.
