Bobby Shields `07 To Play In North-South Senior All-Star Game; Brown Lacrosse Team Recipient of Adams Sportsmanship Award

Providence, RI - Brown senior defenseman Bobby Shields (Hamptead, NH) has been selected to play in the 66th Annual North-South Classic Senior All-Star game, to be played on Friday, May 25, in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition, coach Lars Tiffany and the Brown men's lacrosse team has been named the recipient of the District I /New England Region James "Ace" Adams Award for Sportsmanship.

An All-New England selection for the second straight season, Shields has been the mainstay of the Bears close defense for four years. He helped the Brown defense allow just eight goals per game, third best in the Ivy League and 19th best in the nation, and his 25 ground balls were third among Brown field players. He was also a NEILA senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner in 2007.

The selection of the Adams Sportsmanship Award was based on the sportsmanship of the coaching staff, lacrosse team, administration and fans, in addition to facilities available to the officials and treatment of the officials prior to, during and after games.

The award is named in honor of former Army and Virginia head coach and national Hall of Fame member James "Ace" Adams, who was renowned for both his positive sideline demeanor, as well as the exceptional character which his teams displayed.
