Providence, Rhode Island - Brown seniors Jordan Burke (Potomac, MD) Brady Williams (Columbus, OH) have been selected to compete in the 68th United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Associations North/South Senior All-Star Game to be played at Harvard Stadium on Friday, May 22, 2009 as part of a triple-header. The Division III game will be played at 2:00 PM, and the Division I/II game will be played at 4:00 PM, followed by the Boston Cannons game vs. the Denver Outlaws at 7:30.
Burke and Williams helped the Bears to a 12-4 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Playoffs for the first time since 1997. The Bears were the number one ranked team in New England and finished the regular season ranked 11th nationally.
Burke, the Ivy League and New England Player of the Year for the second straight season, is a finalist for both the Tewaarton Award as the National Player of the Year, and the Lowe's Senior Class Award for achievement on the field, in the classroom and in the community. The senior goalie etched his name into the Ivy League Lacrosse record book as the first player in the history of Ivy League men's lacrosse to win back-to-back Player of the Year awards.
An honorable mention All-Ivy selection, Williams was Brown's fifth leading scorer with 31 points (17 goals, 14 assists). He scored three goals and an assist in Brown's win over Providence and registered a hat-trick in Brown's victory over Denver. A midfielder for the Bears, Williams also handed out a season high three assists against Lehigh.
The Division I/II North team will be coached by Mike Pressler, Head Lacrosse Coach at Bryant University and assisted by Kevin Cassese, Head Lacrosse coach at Lehigh University.
