Providence, Rhode Island - Brown University freshman midfielder Zach Caldwell (Yarmouth, ME) has been named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week in men's lacrosse for his outstanding performance in Brown's 10-9 victory over Yale on Saturday.
Caldwell poured in a career high five goals against the Bulldogs, including the game-winning goal with 2:20 remaining to break a 9-9 tie and lift the Bears to its first Ivy League win in nearly two years. Caldwell, who had scored three goals in Brown's first eight games, netted two first quarter goals for the Bears, two in the third quarter and the game-winner late in the fourth quarter on a feed from senior Alex Buckley.
Caldwell's efforts have helped the Bears to a 6-3 overall record, 1-1 in Ivy League play. The Bears will be back in action Tuesday evening, April 10, at Harvard, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
