18th- Ranked Bears Open Ivy Season At Dartmouth

Providence, Rhode Island - Brown will open its Ivy League men's lacrosse season on Saturday, 3/24, at Dartmouth, riding a four-game winning streak. Since an overtime loss to UMBC to open the season, the Bears have reeled off non-league victories over Hofstra, Providence, Bellarmine and UMass to extend their record to 4-1 overall. Dartmouth is 2-3 overall following wins over Notre Dame and Vermont.

Bears Crack USILA National Poll: Coach Lars Tiffany's Brown men's lacrosse team cracked the USILA Division I National Poll for the first time this season, coming in at 18th place. The Bears are also ranked No. 16 in the latest LaxNews National Poll.

The Series Record: Brown and Dartmouth have met 50 times, dating back to 1927, with the Bears holding a 32-18 series advantage over the Big Green. Dartmouth has won the last two games, including a 14-6 decision last season in Providence. Brown's last win over Dartmouth came in 2004 when the Bears earned a 9-6 victory.

UMass Game Highlights: Senior attackman David Madeira (Norwich, VT) scored three goals, and sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Burke (Potomac, MD) made 16 saves, to lead the resurgent Brown men's lacrosse team to its fourth straight win, a 7-4 victory over UMass at Garbor Field.

Madeira Earns Ivy Player of the Week Honors: Brown University ?senior attackman David Madeira (Norwich, VT) exploded for eight goals in wins over Bellarmine and UMass last week, and was named the Ivy League Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week. Madeira, who helped Brown (4-1) earn its third and fourth straight wins, scored a career high five goals and added an assist in a 9-8 victory over Bellarmine at home on Tuesday. He came back on Saturday with three goals and an assist in the Bears' 7-4 victory over UMass in Amherst. Madeira leads the Bears in scoring with 11 points (9 goals, 2 assists).

Bear Facts: Bears sophomore goalie Jordan Burke was named to the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll after making 16 saves in Brown 7-4 win over UMass. Burke has posted a 6.59 goals against average for the Bears...Freshman Thomas Muldoon is Brown's second leading scorer with 7 goals and 3 assists. He earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors earlier this year...Sophomore Jack Walsh and freshman Jake Hardy have picked up 13 ground balls each to lead the Brown field players...Sophomore Kyle Hollingsworth has scored six goals for the Bears, including the game-winning goal vs. Bellarmine...26 Brown players saw the field against UMass after 28 players saw action in a 9-8 win over Bellarmine....Seniors Alex Buckley, Bobby Shields, and David Madeira, are tri-captains of this tear's team.

Head Coach Lars Tiffany: Bears' first year head coach Lars Tiffany is a 1990 Brown graduate and a two-year Brown lacrosse captain under then Brown coach Dom Starsia. He played on two Brown teams that earned NCAA Tournament berths and played in the North-South Senior All-Star Game. He comes to Brown after a two-year head coaching stint at Stony Brook.
