Providence, RI - An early season battle of ranked teams will take place on Saturday, February 28, at Brown's Meister Kavan Field, when the #14 Brown men's lacrosse team hosts #13 Hofstra in a key non-league game, starting at 12:30 p.m.
Both teams are coming off thrilling season opening wins last Saturday, the Bears taking a 13-12 victory on the road over Lehigh, and the Flying Dutchmen an 11-10 win at home over UMass.
Brown received some offense from some familiar and unfamiliar faces. Sophomore Andrew Feinberg, the New England Rookie of the Year in 2008, netted three goals and distributed two assists against the Mountain Hawks. Junior Collins Carey, who scored four goals all of last year, registered a hat-trick and added an assist for the Bears.
Senior Jordan Burke, the Ivy League Player of the Year and a second team All-American in 2008, registered eight saves for the Bears, including a stop of Lehigh's last shot of the game as time expired.
The Pride (AKA Flying Dutchmen), eked by UMass behind the play of Jay Card, who scored three goals, including the game-winning score with four seconds remaining.
Following Saturday's game against Hofstra, Brown will be back in action next Friday, March 6, against Quinnipiac. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at Meister-Kavan Field.
