Cotter, Derkac, Faello and McGettigan Named 2006 Brown Lacrosse Captains

Providence, RI - Brown University men's lacrosse coach Scott Nelson has announced that midfielder Will McGettigan '06 (Alexandria, VA), midfielder Grant Derkac '06 (Virginia Beach, VA), defenseman Rob Cotter '06 (New Canaan, CT), and defenseman James Faello (Manhasset, NY) were elected to captain the 2006 season for the Bears.

McGettigan played in all 12 games for the Bears' midfield a year ago, scoring four goals and picking up 10 ground balls. Derkac also ran in the Brown midfield, registering an assist in 11 games, while picking up 10 ground balls.

Cotter and Faello were mainstays of the Brown defense, helping to hold opponents to just 9.42 goals per game. Faello started eight of 11 games last season, picking up 13 ground balls. Cotter started 5 of 12 games a year ago, picking up 30 ground balls, fourth best on the Brown team.

The Bears will open their 2006 season at home on Saturday, February 25, 2006, against UMBC.
