Brown Laxers Earn 13-7 Win Over Providence

Providence, Rhode Island - Senior midfielder Jimmy Mormile (Oceanside, NY) scored a career high six goals to lead the Brown men's lacrosse team to a 13-7 victory over cross town rival Providence College.

Brown led from start to finish, opening an early 3-0 lead on two goals by Mormile and one by freshman Ryan Culligan (Cortlandt Manor, NY). Mormile went on to score two more first half goals to give the Bears a 7-3 lead at halftime.

Mormile gave Brown its biggest lead, 10-4, at the end of the third quarter when he took a pass from senior defenseman Matt Grosso (East Setauket, NY), saw Providence goalie John Farley out of the net, and buried a shot in the Providence goal from midfield.

Culligan and sophomore Brian Miller (Monkton, MD) scored three goals each for the Bears, while junior midfielder Chas Gessner (Hyattsville, MD) scored a goal and handed out three assists.

Sophomore goalie Mike Levin (P{ittsford, NY) had a solid outing for the Bears, making 13 saves.

Brown returns to Ivy League action for a first place battle with Cornell on Saturday in Ithaca, New York.
