Amherst, Mass. - The 12th ranked UMass men's lacrosse team rallied from a 14-10 fourth quarter deficit, scoring the game-winning goal with 49 seconds remaining, to take a 15-14 victory over Brown at Garber Field.
Brown led 7-5 at the half and took a 14-10 advantage with 7:45 remaining in the game on a goal by senior Jimmy Mormile from junior Jon Thompson. The Minutemen tied the game on a goal by Jeff Zywicki with 3:13 left in the fourth quarter, and Kevin Leveille scored the game-winner with 49 seconds left to play.
Mormile led the Bears with three goals and an assist, while freshman Ryan Culligan, junior Michael Hughes, junior Chas Gessner and Thompson scored two goals each.
Brown goalkeeper Mike Levin recorded 16 saves.
The Bears will be back in action on Tuesday against Hartford. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson Field.
