Kelly and Molloy Named Ivy League Player, Rookie of the Week
Providence, R.I. - On the heels of a big Ivy League win over Princeton on Saturday, Brown sophomore goalie Jack Kelly (West Islip, NY) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week and freshman attackman Dylan Molloy (Setauket, NY) was selected Ivy Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. The duo helped the Bears to wins over Marist and Princeton, beating the Tigers for the first time since 2008.
Kelly had 32 saves in the two games, including a big second half to beat Princeton, 11-10, on Saturday. Kelly had 16 saves each in wins over Marist and Princeton. Against the Tigers, he had 12 saves in the second half, seven of them in the fourth quarter, as the Tigers tried to roar back from a five-goal deficit. Princeton entered the game averaging 12.9 goals per game. Kelly ranks fifth nationally with 12.4 saves per game.
Molloy had five points in two games last week to help the Bears run their winning streak to three in a row. Molloy had a goal and an assist in a 13-11 win at Marist on Tuesday and followed that up with two goals and an assist in Brown's win over Princeton on Saturday.
The Bears travel to Philadelphia for an Ivy League battle against Penn next Saturday, April 5. Face-off is 1pm at Franklin Field.
