One of the original members of the Fantastic Four, the Thing was an unstoppable force to be reckoned with yet maintained a calm character and had a witty sense of humor. Since retiring from Marvel Comics and joining the Brown Lacrosse program under the pseudonym of Sweaty Pete, he has continued his clobbering ways and joyful spirit. With a maximum bench press at 385 pounds, Pete achieved membership in the 1,000 LB club in December when adding in his peak performances with the squat and hang clean. He has done all of this despite a lower back injury and hamstring issues. Unfortunately, the hamstring injury is not unique for Pete as he had a major tear early in 2012 that kept him sidelined for much of the season. Back on the lacrosse field in 2013, Pete is looking to regain his spot on the Man Down unit. He has a very good grasp of the defensive playbook and he combines a good first step with a nifty stick to be able to pick up ground balls and gain possession for Brown. As a staff, we have tossed the idea around of having Pete take a shot or two on the Man Up unit as he has one of the most powerful cannons on the team…2012: Saw action in three games for the Bears…Picked-up two ground balls vs. Hartford…2011: Saw action in four games for the Bears…Picked-up a ground ball against Quinnipiac…Secondary School Background: A graduate of Rocky Point High School where he lettered in lacrosse (5), football (4) and wrestling (4)…Lacrosse Academic All-American…Four year starter…Lacrosse team captain as a junior and senior…Two-time All-County selection…Starting midfielder on the 2008 New York State Championship team…Two-year football captain, and wrestling captain as a senior…Four-time All-Division selection in football…All-County wrestler as a senior…Senior Class President…National Honor Society member…Math Honor Society…Varsity Club President…Personal: The son of Salvatore and Sandra Vivonetto…Has a brother, Jack, and two sisters, Victoria and Danielle…Enjoys playing the drums, listening to music, sailing and going to the beach…Undecided on his concentration.
