Intelligence and lacrosse IQ can allow for a freshman to make the transition quicker to the college game and to understand the more complex defensive schemes found here. Calum has no shortage of mental capacity, convincing his professors, classmates and teammates of such daily. During the team's practices and meetings, Calum's firm comprehension of the systems with both the defense and the clearing and riding phases have allowed the rest of us to quickly build a trust with him on the field. This could equate to earning meaningful and significant minutes as a freshman despite the logjam filled with upperclassmen ahead of him on the depth chart. Calum's offensive and scoring skills are also materializing, prompting us to formulate a plan that will have him playing primarily as a long-stick midfielder for us in 2013….Secondary School Background: A graduate of Richard Montgomery High School where he lettered in lacrosse for four years… Started Varsity all four years, three-year team captain; 2010: Captain, Selected to 10-man FELL "Elite Team"… 2011: Captain, Team MVP, First Team All-District, First Team All-County, First Team All-Gazette, US Lacrosse All-American, National Lacrosse Classic All-American, Under Armour All-American, NSCLA All-American, ESPNHS Top 25 Long Stick Midfielders…2012: Captain, Team MVP, First Team All-District, First Team All-County, First Team All-Gazette, US Lacrosse All-American, Finalist for the "Kelly Award", All-Met Honorable Mention…Personal: The son of John and Charlene McClelland…Has two siblings, August and Haley…Enjoys snowboarding, skydiving and ultimate Frisbee…Undecided on his concentration.
