Brown Laxers Host Hartford In Wednesday Matinee

Providence, Rhode Island – Coach Lars Tiffany's Brown men's lacrosse team will look to rebound from a tough loss to #6 UMass on Saturday by hosting the Hartford Hawks on Wednesday, March 7 at Meister-Kavan Field, starting at 3:00 p.m.


Brown's Record:  The Bears fell to 1-1 on the season with a 12-7 loss to #6 UMass Saturday afternoon at Stevenson Field.  Senior Parker Brown's four goals led the Bears.


The Hawks:  Hartford (0-3) has opened its season with losses #4 Maryland (12-6), Holy Cross (15-14 ot) and #13 Denver (11-10).


The Series Record:  Brown and Hartford have met eight times, dating back to 2002, with the Bears holding a 7-1 series advantage over the Hawks.  Hartford earned its first ever win over the Bears last year, scoring two late fourth quarter goals to earn an 8-6 win over Brown in Hartford. The Bears earned a13-12 overtime win over Hartford two years ago in Providence.


Bear Facts: Senior Parker Brown scored four goals against #6 UMass. He has six goals for the season and 45 career goals…  Bears' sophomore goalie Will Round was outstanding in a starting role against Quinnipiac, making 10 first half saves against the Bobcats and finishing with 12 saves. He came back with 11 saves vs. UMass…Senior Dan O'Brien has made the most of his opportunity by scoring three goals and handing out three assists in Brown's first two games…Freshman attackman Nick Piroli, who scored thre goals in Brown's win over Quinnipiac, added an assist vs. UMass…Sophomore Tommy Capone has captured 18 of 30 face-offs, and leads the Bears with 13 ground balls…Brown has out-shot its opponents by a 76-57 margin this season.

The Captains:  Seniors Parker Brown (San Francisco, CA) and Rob Schlesinger (Medford, MA) are co-captains of the 2012 Brown lacrosse team. Parker Brown was the Bears' leading scorer in 2011 with 40 points (22 goals, 18 assists), while Schlesinger was an All-Ivy and All-New England selection.
