Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced
Providence, RI – The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2012 spring Academic All-Ivy, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five females and five males were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Sam Ford, Rob Schlesinger and Roger Ferguson Named To All-New England Lacrosse Team
Brown junior Sam Ford (Reisterstown, MD), senior co-captain Rob Schlesinger (Medford, MA) and junior Roger Ferguson (Washington, DC) were named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s (NEILA) 2012 All-New England Men’s Lacrosse Team. Ford earned first team All-New England honors, while Schlesinger and Ferguson garnered second team All-New England accolades. In addition, senior Dan O’Brien (Kensington, MD) and senior co-captain Parker Brown (San Francisco, CA) were named NEILA 2012 Senior Scholar-Athletes.

Brown Narrowly Falls To #9 Princeton, 9-6, In Ivy League Tournament Semis
Brown’s season came to an end in the semifinals of the Ivy League Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Friday evening at Class of 1952 Stadium, but not before battling ninth-ranked Princeton for 60 minutes, falling to the Tigers, 9-6.

Brown Laxers Take On Princeton In Ivy League Playoffs
What seemed improbable three weeks ago became reality when Brown won four of its last five games and earned a berth in the Ivy League Playoffs. The Bears, seeded fourth, will battle top seeded and nationally ninth-ranked Princeton in the opening Ivy League semifinal on Friday, May 4, at 8:00 p.m., live on ESPN3 from Princeton’s Class of 1952 Stadium.

Seven Brown Laxers Earn All-Ivy Honors
Seven members of the Brown University men’s lacrosse team have been named All-Ivy for the 2012 season by a vote of the seven Ivy League lacrosse coaches. Junior defenseman Sam Ford (Reisterstown, MD), sophomore attackman Sam Hurster (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore goalie Will Round (Mt. Lebanon, PA) earned second team All-Ivy honors, while senior attackman Parker Brown (San Francisco, CA), junior midfielder Rob Schlesinger (Medford, MA), junior long stick midfielder Roger Ferguson (Washington, DC) and junior defenseman Clay DelPrince (Hamburg, NY) were named honorable mention All-Ivy selections.

Brown Laxers Triumph Over Dartmouth, 10-8, To Gain Ivy League Playoff Berth
Sophomore attackman Sam Hurster (St. Louis, MO) scored three goals to lead Brown to a 10-8 win over Dartmouth at Stevenson Field and a berth in next week’s Ivy League Playoffs. The Bears gained the fourth spot in the Ivy Playoffs by winning their final two league games and finishing with a 3-3 Ivy mark, 7-7 overall. The Big Green completed its season with a 4-9 overall record, 1-5 in the Ivy League.

Sophomore attackman Sam Hurster scored three goals as Brown led from start-to-finish in an 11-6 non-league win over Providence College Tuesday evening at Stevenson Field. The Bears now hold an 18-0 series advantage over the Friars. Hurster added an assist to go with his hat-trick, while senior Rob Schlesinger and junior Johnny DePeters netted two goals each for Brown.

Brown Laxers Fall To Yale, 11-10, In 4 Overtimes
In a marathon four overtime game that played well into the night, Yale’s Deron Dempster scored an unassisted goal on a behind-the-back shot with 1:43 left in the fourth overtime period to lead the Bulldogs to an 11-10 Ivy League win over Brown Friday evening at Stevenson Field. Brown played four overtime periods for the fourth time in its 62-year men’s lacrosse history.

Senior Rob Schlesinger’s unassisted goal with 11 seconds left in the game lifted Brown to its first Ivy League win, 11-10, over Penn at Franklin Field Saturday evening. The win gets the Bears (4-6 overall, 1-2 Ivy) back in contention for an Ivy League playoff berth, while Penn falls to 1-7 overall, 0-4 in Ivy play.

Second Half Outburst Lifts #13 Princeton Over Brown, 13-2
Princeton utilized a 7-0 third quarter outburst to break open a close game at halftime and cruise to a 13-2 Ivy League win over Brown at chilly Stevenson Field Saturday afternoon. The win lifts the Tigers to 3-0 in the Ivy League, 6-2 overall, while Brown falls to 0-2 in the league, 3-5 overall. Senior Rob Schlesinger scored both goals for the Bears.

Brown Returns To Stevenson Field To Host #13 Princeton
Brown will play at Stevenson Field for the first time this season, returning to Ivy League play to host #13 Princeton on Saturday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m. The Bears will bid adieu to the Stevenson Field grass playing-surface at the completion of the season, with a synthetic turf being installed at Stevenson during the summer months.

#8 Duke Holds Off Late Brown Rally, 9-8
Brown’s furious fourth quarter rally came up a goal short after a barrage of shots in the game’s final seconds as the Bears dropped a 9-8 decision to eighth-ranked Duke Tuesday afternoon at Koskinen Stedium. The Bears, now 3-4 on the season, outshot the Blue Devils (8-3) by a 15-4 margin in the fourth quarter, and 37-29 overall.

Freshman Nick Piroli (Black River, NY) scored a career high four goals to lead eight different Brown goal scorers in the Bears’ 14-5 victory over Vermont Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field. The Bears evened their record at 3-3 on the season with the win, while the Catamounts fell to 1-7.

Harvard Tops Brown, 10-9, In Overtime
Jeff Cohen scored his fifth goal with 2:15 left in overtime to rally Harvard to a 10-9 win over Brown at Harvard Stadium in the Ivy League opener for both teams. Brown freshman Nick Piroli (Black River, NY) sent the game into overtime with his third goal of the game, tying the score, 9-9, with 5:30 left in regulation.

Brown Laxers Open Ivy Season At Harvard
Brown opens its 2012 Ivy League Lacrosse season on Saturday, March 17, with a St. Patrick’s Day match-up against Harvard at Harvard Stadium, starting at 7:00 p.m. The Bears are 2-2 overall and recently captured Ivy League Championships in 2008 and 2010. Harvard has posted a 2-3 record in 2012 and will also be opening its Ivy season.

Lecture, Exhibition Game Highlight Iroquois National Lacrosse Team Coming To Brown
Brown University is pleased to host Oren Lyons, National Lacrosse Hall of Fame player, Onondaga Turtle Clan Faithkeeper, and University of Buffalo faculty member to speak about the cultural and spiritual role of lacrosse, “the little brother of war,” as a way of maintaining international tribal relations, and in contemporary times the role this game has played in the debates around tribal communities as sovereign nations within the borders of the US and Canada. Lyons will speak at an open forum on Friday, February 17 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. at the Granoff Center, located in the heart of the Brown campus. All are invited to attend.

Brown Well Represented At MLL Supplemental Draft
Brown lacrosse was well represented in the 2012 MLL Supplement draft, with attackman Chazz Woodson ’05 being chosen as the first overall selection, assistant coach and attackman Steven Boyle as the third overall choice, attackman David Hawley ’11 chosen on the 11th round, and and midfielder Brady Williams '09 taken on the 18th round. The MLL Supplemental Draft results followed the second of three drafts slated to take place prior to the 2012 season, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. All players were selected from the MLL Player Pool.
