Men's Ice Hockey To Host Western Ontario In Exhibition Tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Oct. 25, 2002

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's ice hockey team opens the 2002-2003 season with an exhibition game against Western Ontario tonight at the newly-renovated Meehan Auditorium. The puck is set to drop at 7:00 p.m. as the Bears begin their 78th season of collegiate ice hockey.

The Bears return 22 letterwinners from last season, including All-American Yann Danis, who was also selected to the pre-season All-ECAC squad. Danis will anchor the defense as Brown looks to continue its resurgence under head coach Roger Grillo, now in his sixth season. Danis will receive help from veteran blueliners, senior assistant captain Paul Esdale, last season's second-leading scorer, and junior assistant captain Scott Ford.

In addition, junior Brent Robinson, last year's top scorer, will look to lead the offense along with senior captain Tye Korbl and senior assistant captain Keith Kirley.

The Bears officially begin the 2002-2003 season on Saturday, November 2, at 7:00 p.m., as they host Harvard in the 138th meeting between the two schools.
