Brown Team Defeats White Team In Men's Ice Hockey Intrasquad Scrimmage

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown ice hockey team held it's 2002 Brown and White Scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Meehan Auditorium with the Brown team earning a 4-2 win over the White team in a scrimmage consisting of two 25-minute halves.
The Brown team took a 1-0 lead on a goal by senior Chris Legg with 18:28 remaining in the first half. Freshman Dami Amurawaiye tallied an assist on the goal, which was scored against sophomore Scott Rowan.
Senior Jason Wilson tallied the White team's first goal with just 4:29 left in the first half, scoring the only goal of the day against junior Yann Danis. Rowan stopped five shots in 11:19 for the White team, while freshman Kevin Kliman made five saves and allowed zero goals in 13:41. Danis played the entire 25 minutes, stopping eight shots for the Brown team.
In the second half, the Brown Team came out strong, firing away at Rowan. Junior Adam Saunders increased Brown's lead to 2-1 with 16:33 remaining, while senior Keith Kirley gave the Brown team a 3-1 lead with 10:09 left.
Sophomore Jarrett Robertson cut the Brown team's lead to 3-2 with 5:52 remaining with the only goal scored against Kliman, but junior Nick Ringstad added an empty-netter for the Brown team with 38 seconds left to play.
Rowan stopped seven shots for the white team in 25 minutes, while Danis (11:14) and Kliman (13:46) combined for 11 saves for the Brown team.
The White Team consisted of seniors Tye Korbl and Jason Wilson; juniors Pascal Denis, Scott Ford, and Brent Robinson; sophomores Gerry Burke, Paul Crosty, Mike Meech, Jarrett Robertson, and Chris Swon; and freshmen Joe Bauer, Cory Caouette, Mike Carthas, and Adam Tichauer.
The Brown Team consisted of seniors Paul Esdale, Chris Legg, Keith Kirley, and Owen Walter; juniors Vince Macri, Shane Mudryk, Nick Ringstad, and Adam Saunders; sophomores Chris Davidson, Les Haggett, and Rob Kapuscinski; and freshmen Dami Amurawaiye, Pete LeCain, and Rugo Santini.
The Bears will travel to Harvard on Sunday, October 20 for a 2:00 p.m. scrimmage and will host Western Ontario next Friday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. in an exhibition game before the points begin to count. The Bears open their regular season with a 7:00 p.m. game against Harvard in the newly renovated Meehan Auditorium on Saturday, November 2.
