Men's Hockey Picked 6th in both the Preseason ECACHL Coaches' Poll, and in the Media Poll

Sept. 22, 2005

ALBANY, NY - The Brown men's ice hockey team has been picked sixth in the annual preseason ECACHL Coaches' poll and sixth in the preseason media poll, announced today at the ECACHL media day, held at Pepsi Arena, the host of the 2006 ECACHL men's ice hockey championship.

The Bears finished the 2004-2005 season in sixth place, while posting their third straight winning season. Brown achieved its highest ranking ever in the pre-season poll in 2003 when the Bears were picked to finish fourth.

With the return of 22 letterwinners, including eight of the top 10 scorers from last year and nearly the entire defensive unit, ninth-year head coach Roger Grillo and the Bears are within reach of the program's first-ever ECACHL Championship Title.

Brown opens its 2004-2005 season on Friday, November 4, 2005 when it hosts Colgate at 7:00 p.m. With the re-arrangement of the ECACHL travel-partner system, this season marks the first time in the past seven years that Brown and Harvard will not meet in the season opener.
