PROVIDENCE, RI - Danny Brooks will begin his first season with the Bears in 2002 as an assistant men's ice hockey coach. After spending the past four years out west, Brooks returns to the East Coast, taking over for the vacancy left by Steve King, who resigned in July.

Brooks has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Wayne State University in Detroit. Prior to his stint at Wayne State, Brooks coached for one year at Western Michigan. Before WMU, Brooks served as assistant coach during the 1997-98 campaign at Bentley College.

Brooks played professionally for the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League (1997-98), the Fresno Falcons (1992-94) of West Coast Hockey League, and the Muskegon Fury of the Colonial Hockey League (1992-93). In between, he played for first division teams in England and Germany.

A native of Natick, MA, Brooks was also a member of the Roller Hockey International champion Anaheim Bullfrogs squad in 1997.

Brooks, 34, received a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Brandon in 1992 and is currently working on his master's degree.
