Danis Named AHCA Second Team All-American

April 9, 2002

Sophomore Yann Danis (Lafontaine, QUE) was recently named a Second Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association. He adds this honor to a list of accolades which includes First Team All-Ivy and Second Team All-ECAC, as well as a nod on the New England Hockey Writers Association All-Star Team. In addition, he becomes Brown's 14th All-American and the first since 1992 when Mike Brewer '92 earned All-America status.

Danis posted a league-leading .938 save percentage, second all-time in ECAC history, and a 1.86 goals against average, third in the conference. A two-time ECAC Goalie of the Week and one-time ECAC Player of the Week, Danis also earned USCHO Defensive Player of the Week honors twice this season.

He posted three shutouts, tying the school record for shutouts in a season, while his goals against average and save percentage broke the Brown season record for each of those categories. He was as high as 3rd in the nation for goals against average and as high as 2nd in the country for save percentage, while finishing the season at 5th and 2nd respectively.

The All-American honorees come from 14 states, three Canadian provinces, and three different countries. Fourteen are seniors, eight are juniors, and three are sophomores.
