Brown University freshman Chris Poli (Medfield, MA) was named ECACHL Rookie of the Week (3/7), after helping Brown to a ECACHL First Round sweep over RPI, winning the games 7-4 and 4-3 in overtime. This marks the first time this season that Poli has been honored as the League's Rookie of the Week.
Poli helped to lead Brown to the sweep with the first three goals of his career, including the game-winner at 5:33 of overtime in Game #2. In Game #1, Poli scored the first goal of the game, giving Brown a 1-0 lead just 3:52 in. After RPI tied the contest at 3-3, Poli scored his second of the game 45 seconds later to give the Bears a 4-3 lead late in the second period. The next night in Game #2, Poli had the primary assist on Brown's second goal of the game as the Bears took a 2-1 lead 2:21 after RPI had tied the game at 1-1. In overtime, Poli tallied his third goal of the weekend to lift Brown to victory. He finish with a "+4" rating on the weekend and currently has 3-3-6 numbers on the season.
The Bears continue ECACHL Playoff action this weekend when they travel to third-seeded Colgate for a best-of-three Quarterfinal series. Game #1 begins at 7:05 on Friday night and will be televised live on Time Warner Cable.
