Danis and Esdale Earn All-Ivy Ice Hockey Recognition

The Brown men's ice hockey team had two athletes selected to the 2002 All-Ivy men's ice hockey team, with sophomore Yann Danis (Lafontaine, QUE) being named First Team All-Ivy and junior Paul Esdale (Edmonton, ALB) earning Honorable Mention recognition.

A goaltender, Danis earned First Team honors, while leading the Ivy League with a .929 save percentage. His 1.96 goals against average in Ivy contests ranks third in the league. Danis' overall goals against average (1.85) is fifth in the country, while his save percentage (.939) his third in the nation. Danis was a two-time ECAC Goalie of the Week, one-time ECAC Player of the Week, and a two-time US College Hockey Online Defensive Player of the Week.

Esdale earned Honorable Mention recognition after finishing as the Bears second-leading scorer, while leading all-defensemen with 5-13-18 totals. He registered 0-4-4 He is a crucial part of the Brown power-play and penalty-killing teams, scoring three power play goals, while tallying nine power-play points, to go along with one short-handed goal.

The Bears finished the regular season with a 14-13-2 record and will begin competition in the first round of the ECAC Playoffs against Harvard in Cambridge. The first game is Friday, March 8, with a second game on Saturday, March 9, and a third game, if necessary, on Sunday, March 10, with all games beginning at 7:00 p.m.
