PROVIDENCE, RI - Sunday afternoon's hockey game pitting Brown against #16 Quinnipiac at 12:30 p.m. in Hamden, CT will be broadcast live on NESN. The Bears come into the game having won twice in their past three games and will look to climb the ECAC Hockey standings. Quinnipiac enters the game with a 2-0-1 record in its past three games, including Friday night's 5-1 win over cross-town rival Yale.
The Bears will look to keep the all-time series record with Quinnipiac even, as the Bobcats picked up a 6-3 win over Brown in early January, their first-ever victory over the Bears in Providence, to go up, 3-2, in the all-time series. Brown has never won a road game against Quinnipiac, but this afternoon's contest will mark the first time that the Bears will play the Bobcats in the TD Banknorth Sports Center, which opened just after the two teams met at the Northford Ice Pavilion last season.
Senior Jeff Prough (Farmington Hills, MI) leads the Bears all-time against Quinnipiac with eight points (2g, 6a) in five career games. He enters this afternoon's game with 98 career points (46g, 52a), after recording an assist on Friday against Princeton, as he nears the 100-point milestone. Junior Ryan Garbutt (Winnipeg, MAN) adds seven points (5g, 2a) in five career games, including his first career hat trick in Brown's 6-3 victory last season. Earlier this year against the Bobcats, Brown received goals from sophomore Devin Timberlake (Port Alberni, BC), freshman David Brownschidle (Lawrenceville, NJ), who scored his first career short-handed goal, and sophomore Sean McMonagle (Oakville, ONT).
