PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown sophomore goalie Dan Rosen (Syosset, NY) was named ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week after helping to lead the Bears to their first weekend sweep of the season with a pair of wins over Harvard (4-2) and Dartmouth (4-3). For the weekend, Rosen recorded his eighth and ninth start of the season with at least 30 saves, stopping 32 against Harvard, including 28 in the final two periods, and 36 the next night against Dartmouth. He finished the weekend with a .932 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average.
After alternating starts with junior Mark Sibbald (Ridgeway, ONT) for the past four weeks, Rosen played in his second and third straight games, while starting back-to-back games in a weekend for the first time since November 16-17 at St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Rosen earned the two wins, helping Brown to double its win total on the season, while also recording its first sweep of the season and first league sweep since November of 2005.
Senior David Robertson (Saunderstown, RI) and freshman Harry Zolnierczyk (Toronto, ONT) were also nominated for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively, for their performances over the weekend. Robertson scored his first two goals of the season against Harvard for his first career two-goal game and had an assist the next night against Dartmouth, while Zolnierczyk recorded his third assist of the season on Friday against the Crimson.
The Bears continue action this weekend with a pair of road games at #19 Princeton (Friday) and #16 Quinnipiac (Sunday), currently tied for third in the ECAC Hockey standings.
