For the third time this season, Brown University freshman goalie Dan Rosen (Syosset, NY) was honored by the ECAC Hockey League, earning Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this year.
The nation's leading goaltender in both save percentage (.957) and goals against average (1.44), Rosen continued his strong play in the net for Brown as the Bears went 1-0-1 at the Wells Fargo Denver Cup. In Brown's first round 1-1 tie with UMass-Lowell, Rosen stopped a career-high 47 saves, including 21 of 22 in the second period. Brown was outshot for the game, 48-21. He also came up big in the shootout, stopping the first three UMass-Lowell shooters to keep Brown alive after each of the Bears' first three shooters failed to score. The next night against Mercyhurst, Rosen stopped 20 of 22 shots, picking up his seventh win of the season in overtime. In the extra frame, Rosen saw just one shot, but made the save with Brown on the penalty-kill before the Bears gained possession, went down to the other end and netted the game-winner.
Since playing the required 33% of the team's minutes to be eligible for league and national statistics reporting on November 18th, Rosen has never fallen out of the top spot in the nation in both save percentage and goals against average.
The Bears, who concluded the non-league portion of their schedule with a 4-1-2 record, return to ECACHL action this weekend when they face Yale in a 7:00 p.m. contest in New Haven.
