PROVIDENCE, RI - The men's ice hockey team (4-3-1, 4-3-1) snapped a two-game skid on Friday evening with a 1-1 overtime tie with visiting Rensselaer (6-7-1, 1-3-1) in an ECAC men's ice hockey contest at Meehan Auditorium. With the tie, the Bears extend their unbeaten streak to 11 games while playing at home.
After nearly two periods of scoreless action, the Bears took a 1-0 lead with just 10 seconds remaining in the second period, ending a scoreless streak of 166:54. Sophomore Jarrett Robertson (Kingston, ONT) fought his way down the ice and connected with senior captain Tye Korbl (Barnstable, MA), who netted his first goal of the season. Sophomore Chris Swon (Mendham, NJ) also earned an assist on the goal for his first point of the year.
However, the Engineers knotted the contest less than one minute into the third period, which was how the game remained for 24:08 as junior goalie Yann Danis (Saint-Jerome, QUE) stopped 11 shots in the third period.
Danis finished the game with 31 saves, while Kevin Kurk stopped 21 shots for the Engineers.
