PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's ice hockey team (0-0-0) hosted Concordia on Friday, October 28, in an exhibition contest and earned a 5-4 victory behind two power-play goals apiece from sophomore Jeff Prough (Farmington Hills, MI) and junior Sean Dersch (Edmonton, ALB). The game was the final pre-season tune-up for Brown, which officially opens its season next Friday, November 4, when it hosts Colgate at 7:00 p.m.

Prough gave Brown an early 1-0 lead, when he scored his first power-play goal just 2:50 into the contest. Freshman Eric Slais (Fenton, MO) sent the puck to sophomore Sean Hurley (Rutland, VT), who was just inside the blueline. Hurley fired a wrist shot from dead center and Prough, who was on the right post, tipped the puck in for the lead.

The Bears' lead was erased at 10:35, when Concordia added a power-play goal of its own. Just 1:12 into the second period, the Stingers took their only lead of the game on a second power-play goal, scoring with a four-on-three advantage.

Exactly three minutes later, senior Cory Caouette (Devon, ALB) scored the Bears' only even strength goal of the night, when he tipped the puck into the net off a shot from Hurley, who gained control of the puck on a failed clearing attempt by Concordia. Adam D'Alba (Glencoe, IL) stopped 12 shots, allowing two goals, through 36:03, before giving way to senior Kevin Kliman (Toronto, ONT), who played the remainder of the second period and the entire third, finishing with nine saves.

Concordia came to within one goal at 8:12 of the third, scoring its third power-play goal, but Dersch regained the two-goal cushion for Brown with his second power-play goal at 10:16 of the third. The Stingers scored their only even strength goal of the night with 4:03 left to play, for the 5-4 final.
