Prough and Timberlake Score as Bears Defeat UOIT, 2-0, in Exhibition
Oct. 26, 2007
NEW HAVEN, CT - Senior assistant captain Jeff Prough (Farmington Hills, MI) scored all the Bears would need 5:10 into the game as the Brown men's ice hockey team picked up a 2-0 exhibition win over University of Ontario Institute of Technology in game one of the first-ever Shootout at Ingalls. Brown dominated the game, outshooting the Ridgebacks, 56-15, to post the victory in its final tune-up before opening the season against Yale tomorrow at 7:30 in the final game of the Shootout.
Brown opened the scoring just 5:10 in when Prough converted a pass from sophomore Sean McMonagle (Oakville, ONT) for the goal.
That score would hold until 6:26 of the third period when sophomore Devin Timberlake (Port Alberni, BC) scored a power-play goal for the 2-0 final. Junior Eric Slais (Fenton, MO) and senior David Robertson (Saunderstown, RI) each assisted on the goal as Brown finished 1-8 on the power-play.
All three of the Bears' goalies saw time in net and combined for the shutout. Sophomore Dan Rosen (Syosset, NY) earned the start and stopped four shots in 27:29, before giving way to classmate Tristan Favro (Westfield, NJ), who made three saves in the final 12:28 of the second period. Junior Mark Sibbald (Ridgeway, ONT) played the third period and stopped eight shots to preserve the win.
