Men's Icers Fall to Yale, 2-1, in Game-Two of Best-of-Three Quarterfinal Series

NEW HAVEN, CT - Yale scored the game-winning goal with 6:22 remaining in the game as Brown (15-12-5, 10-8-4) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bulldogs (18-13-0, 13-9-0) in game two of the ECAC Quarterfinal best-of-three series Saturday evening at Ingalls Rink.
Coming off Friday's 4-3 overtime victory, the Bears outshot Yale 7-2 over the course of the first seven minutes of the first period, finishing the period with an 11-8 shot advantage. The hard work paid off just 6:18 into the game when junior Shane Mudryk (Leduc, ALB) gave the Bears a 1-0 lead with his fifth goal of the year. Senior Keith Kirley (Leverett, MA) chipped the puck up the right wing from behind Brown's blueline to junior Pascal Denis (Magog, QUE). Denis skate into the zone alone, waiting for Mudryk, who came into the high slot, and banged a shot off the inside of the left post for the 1-0 lead.
The second period began with each team skating four players the first period ended with matching minors, and remained special team play for nearly 10 minutes, when Yale notched the equalizer. The Bulldogs tied the game on a power-play goal by Evan Wax at the 9:11 mark, just 11 seconds after the Bears had successfully killed a five-on-three Bulldog advantage.
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the series with 6:22 remaining in the game on a goal by Denis Nam, which proved to be the game-winner as Yale forced a third, and deciding game.
For the game, junior Yann Danis (Saint-Jerome, QUE) stopped 34 shots in net, while Josh Gartner made 24 saves for the Bulldogs. Brown and Yale will face off tomorrow, March 16, in game three of the best-of-three series at 7:00 p.m.
