PRINCETON, NJ - The Princeton Tigers scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-2 win over Brown (14-12-2, 10-9-2) in an ECAC and Ivy men's ice hockey contest on Friday evening at Princeton's Baker Rink.
After nearly a period of scoreless action, the Bears got on the board on their second power play opportunity of the contest. With Princeton down two men and the Bears down one, sophomore leading scorer Brent Robinson (Pointe Claire, QUE) skate the puck around the edge of the crease and gave Brown a 1-0 lead with his eighth goal of the season at 14:32 of the first period. Junior Paul Esdale (Edmonton, ALB) tallied an assist on the goal.
Princeton tied the contest at 4:32 of the second period and took a 2-1 lead less than four minutes into the final stanza. Princeton extended its lead to 3-1 at 12:17 of the third, scoring what proved to be the game-winning goal.
However, with less than six minutes remaining in the contest, freshman Mike Meech (Coquitlam, BC) scored his second of the season to bring Brown to within one at 14:09 of the third. Classmate Chris Swon (Mendham, NJ) picked up an assist on the goal.
For the game, sophomore Yann Danis (Lafontaine, QUE) finished with 26 saves. The Bears continue action tomorrow when they face Yale in New Haven in a 7:00 p.m. contest as they finish the regular season still in a position to clinch home ice for the 2002 ECAC playoffs.
