PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's ice hockey team (13-9-3, 8-8-2) dropped its second straight game on Friday evening, falling to St. Lawrence (14-15-2, 8-10-1), 3-0, in an ECACHL game at Meehan Auditorium. With the loss, Brown remains in sixth place, six points out of fourth place, in the League standings, but the Saints are now just one point behind the Bears.
Brown controlled the play of the game for roughly the first three minutes of action, however, the Saints found their legs and broke the 0-0 tie just 7:21 into the contest. After junior Rugo Santini (Winchester, MA) slid into the St. Lawrence net, the Saints' Mike Zbriger collected the puck and found leading-scorer T.J. Trevelyan at center ice. Trevelyan beat three Brown skaters and lifted the puck over freshman Adam D'Alba's (Glencoe, IL) right shoulder for the 1-0 lead.
His goal would prove to be the game-winner, but less than three minutes into the third period, Trevelyan added his second of the game for a 2-0 St. Lawrence lead. Kyle Rank sealed the victory for the Saints with 1:28 remaining in the game.
In net for Brown, D'Alba recorded 23 saves, while Mike McKenna earned the shutout with 22 saves for St. Lawrence. The Bears continue action tomorrow evening when they host Clarkson at 7:00 p.m. It is the final regular season contest at Meehan Auditorium for the Class of 2005.
