Men's Icers Fall to Cornell In Ivy and ECAC Action, 2-0
Feb. 3, 2002
ITHACA, NY - Cornell (15-5-1, 11-2-1) scored two second period goals en route to a 2-0 victory over Brown (8-11-2, 4-8-2) in an ECAC and Ivy men's ice hockey contest Saturday evening at Lynah Rink.
After nearly 26 minutes of scoreless action, Cornell got on the board first when junior Matt McRae fired the puck past sophomore Yann Danis (Lafontaine, QUE) and into the back of the net. The Big Red took a 2-0 lead before the end of the second as senior Krzysztof Wieckowski tapped the puck over the goal line at 16:10 of the second period, just 12 seconds after a Brown power play had ended.
With the Bears on the power play late in the third period, sophomore Shane Mudryk (Leduc, ALB) nailed the cross-bar with 3:21 remaining, narrowly missing a chance to bring Brown to within one.
For the game, Danis finished with 25 saves, earning third star honors. The Bears continue action next weekend when they host Dartmouth and Vermont in ECAC action on Friday and Saturday. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. at Meehan both nights.
