Men's Ice Hockey Falls to Colgate, 2-1

Feb. 2, 2002

HAMILTON, NY - The Colgate Raiders scored two goals in a span of 2:22 en route to a 2-1 victory over Brown (8-10-2, 4-7-2) in an ECAC men's ice hockey contest Friday evening at Colgate's Starr Rink.

After nearly a period of scoreless action, Colgate took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal at 15:21 on an Etienne Morin goal that got through traffic in front of the net. The Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 on a Rob Brown goal just 2:22 later, heading into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.

The score remained 2-0 in favor of Colgate for almost the entire second stanza. However, at 16:41, freshman Les Haggett (Norwood, NY) got Brown on the board with his fifth goal of the season, narrowing Colgate's lead to 2-1 at the end of two periods. Senior Josh Barker (Swift Current, SASK) and freshman Paul Crosty (Edmonton, ALB) each earned assists on the goal, Haggett's and Crosty's second points in as many games.

The Bears pulled sophomore goalie Yann Danis (Lafontaine, QUE) with 1:06 left in the game for an extra skater, but could not net the game-tying goal.

For the game, Danis finished with 23 saves for the Bears, who continue action Saturday when they face Cornell in a 7:00 p.m. ECAC contest.
