2001-2002: Walter played in 15 games last season, tallying two assists, both in ECAC contests ... Picked up his first point of the season against Clarkson ... Tallied an assist in a 2-1 win over RPI ... Finished with a +1 rating ... Was also one of nine Bears to earn Academic All-ECAC honors.
2000-2001: Appeared in 14 games for the Bears, missing five due to a wrist injury ... Finished the season with 1-2-3 totals and a +2 rating ... In his first game of the season, he registered an assist in Brown's 5-1 victory over #14 Providence as the Bears claimed the Mayor's Cup for the fifth time in six years ... Added his second assist of the season the following weekend on the game-tying goal against Dartmouth ... Notched his only goal of season to put Bears up 1-0 in their 3-3 tie at Clarkson.
1999-2000: Played in 27 games and finished with 2-4 -- 6 totals ... Netted his first collegiate goal against Dartmouth on November 6 ... Scored Brown's first goal at UMass-Lowell on December 30 in a come-from-behind win ... Notched a pair of assists in a 6-5 loss to Yale ... Also added two more assists in 6-5 loss to Clarkson.
Before Brown: Owen played three years of Midget "AAA" hockey at Carlton, serving as an assistant captain in 1997. He led the team in scoring in 1997 with 26 goals and 43 assists, and he was the top defenseman on the team. Owen also racked up 212 penalty minutes that year. In the 1997 All-Star game, Walter won the hardest shot competition, and he was the Tournament MVP at the 1997 Richmond International Tournament. He then went on to play two seasons at the Junior "A" level with Victoria Salsa.
