Robertson Named Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American
PHILADELPHIA – Senior Dennis Robertson (Fort St. John, British Columbia), who recently completed a four-year career with the Brown men’s hockey team, has been selected as a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American, announced Thursday afternoon at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior Dennis Robertson (Fort St. John, British Columbia) of the Brown men’s hockey team was recently named ECAC Hockey Co-Best Defensive Defenseman of the Year, as selected by the league’s 12 coaches.

Men’s Hockey’s Robertson Signs with Carolina
RALEIGH, N.C. – Defenseman Dennis Robertson (Fort St. John, British Columbia), who recently completed a four-year career with the Brown men’s hockey team, has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. He will join Carolina’s AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, for the remainder of the 2013-14 season.

Men's Hockey's Hathaway Signs With AHL’s Abbotsford Heat
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Forward Garnet Hathaway (Kennebunkport, Maine), who recently wrapped up a four-year career with the Brown men’s hockey team, has recently signed a professional contract with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League. Abbotsford is the minor league affiliate of the Calgary Flames.

CANTON, N.Y. – Senior Garnet Hathaway (Kennebunkport, Maine) evened the score early in the third, but the Saints replied with a pair of quick goals and held on the rest of the way as the ninth-seeded Brown men’s hockey team fell to eighth-seeded St. Lawrence, 3-2, in game two of the ECAC First Round Saturday evening at Appleton Arena.

CANTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Nick Lappin (Geneva, Ill.) evened the game with 54 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, but Eric Sweetman notched the game-winner in double overtime as the ninth-seeded Bears fell at eighth-seeded St. Lawrence, 3-2, in game one of the ECAC First Round Friday evening at Appleton Arena.

Six Former Bears Sign NHL or AHL Contracts
Four former men’s hockey standouts have signed NHL contracts, while an additional two have signed AHL contracts. Yann Danis ’04 signed a one-year two-way contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, while Aaron Volpatti ’10 signed a two-year contract with the Washington Capitals. Bobby Farnham ’12 and Harry Zolnierczyk ’11 both signed a one-year two-way contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In addition, Scott Ford ’04 has signed a one-year contract with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals, while Mike Clemente ’12 has signed a one-year contract with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons. Ryan Garbutt ’09 will enter the second year of a two-year contract he signed last July with the Dallas Stars, bringing the number of Brown alumni on professional contracts to seven.

Whittet Announces Eight-Member Class of 2017
Head men’s hockey coach Brendan Whittet ’94 has announced his fourth recruiting class as the Bears’ head coach. This talented group of eight players (four forwards, two defensemen, and two goalies) is set to join the Bears this fall as part of the Class of 2017. They represent the United States (Massachusetts and Michigan), Canada (British Columbia and Ontario) and Finland.

Brown men's hockey head coach Brendan Whittet has announced the Bears’ 2013-14 schedule, which features 12 home games, including one each against the most recent two NCAA National Champions. The Bears open their 2013-14 campaign against defending National Champion Yale on Friday, October 25, at the Liberty Hockey Invitational, to be played at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Brown hosts 2012 National Champion Boston College on Saturday, January 11th and then hosts the Bulldogs on January 24th.

Robertson Named 2013-14 Men's Hockey Captain; Hathaway, Hourihan and Lorito Named Assistant Captains
Head men's hockey coach Brendan Whittet '94 has announced that rising senior Dennis Robertson (Fort St. John, British Columbia) will serve as the Bears' captain for 2013-14 as voted on by his peers. Robertson, who was also Brown’s captain this past season, will be joined in leading the Bears by three assistant captains – rising seniors Garnet Hathaway (Kennebunkport, Maine) and Mark Hourihan (Lynnfield, MA), and rising junior Matt Lorito (Oakville, Ontario).
