PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown men's hockey freshman Mark Naclerio (Milford, CT) has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 24th. Naclerio was instrumental in helping to lead the Bears to a three-point weekend in which they defeated Princeton, 4-1, on Friday night and then rallied from a 3-1 deficit to earn a 3-3 tie at #1 Quinnipiac on Saturday. The three points helps Brown maintain positioning in the standings as it heads into the final two regular season games of the year, at home this weekend against Cornell and Colgate.
Naclerio posted four points in the pair of games, including a career-high three points (1g, 2a) in Brown's 4-1 win at Princeton. He assisted Brown's two first-period goals, including the game-winning goal, and then helped secure the victory with an empty net goal, giving Brown a 4-0 lead with 4:16 remaining. The next night at Quinnipiac, Naclerio helped Brown come back for the critical point with the primary assist on Brown's second goal, which brought the Bears with within 3-2 with 2:16 left to play. He finished the weekend with a +5 rating, including a +4 mark against the Tigers, and won 17 faceoffs.
Naclerio and the rest of the Brown men's hockey team host Cornell (Friday, 7:00) and Colgate (4:00) in a pair of critical ECAC Hockey games.
