White Team Defeats Brown Team, 2-1, in Annual Brown vs. White Scrimmage

PROVIDENCE, RI – Following its first day of official practices, the Brown men's hockey team played its annual Brown vs. White scrimmage on Saturday morning, October 13th. The White team edged the Brown team, 2-1, in overtime, as 25 of the 29 players on the roster saw action in the game.

The game was split into two 25-minute periods, running time, with an intermission in between. The White team scored the first goal of the game when junior Matt Wahl (Wellington, FL) skated the puck into the corner and crossed it in front to freshman Mark Naclerio (Milford, CT), who one-timed it in with 4:09 left in the first period.

The Brown team would tie the score at 1-1 with 12:48 remaining in the second period when sophomore Matt Harlow (Bridgewater, MA) connected on a feed from sophomore Ryan Jacobson (Greenwood Village, CO).

With the score tied at 1-1 through the end of the second 25-minute frame, the teams faced off for a four-on-four overtime. Just 22 seconds into the extra period, Wahl found junior Jake Goldberg (Langhorne, PA) in the slot for the game-winning goal.

In addition to Wahl, Naclerio and Goldberg, members of the White team included seniors Richie Crowley (Canton, MA), Francis Drolet (Lachine, QUE), and Jeff Ryan (Media, PA), juniors Mark Hourihan (Lynnfield, MA), Michael Juola (Lake Forest, CA), and Jimmy Siers (Mt. Prospect, IL), and sophomores Massimo Lamacchia (Vaughan, ONT), Kyle Quick (Buffalo, NY) and Greg Tang (Cambridge, MA).

Members of the Brown team included senior Marc Senecal (North Bay, ONT), juniors Mike Borge (Somerset, MA), Garnet Hathaway (Kennebunkport, ME) and Dennis Robertson (Fort St. John, BC), sophomore Matt Lorito (Oakville, ONT), and freshmen Nick Lappin (Geneva, IL), Brandon Pfeil (West Vancouver, BC), Joe Prescott (Norwell, MA), and Nate Widman (Naperville, IL).

Senior Anthony Borelli (Grand Island, NY) and junior Marco De Filippo (Auronzo Di Cadore, Italy) played for both teams.
