Whittet Announces 2012-13 Men's Hockey Schedule

Complete schedule available here.

Brown men's hockey head coach Brendan Whittet has announced the Bears 2012-13 schedule, which features 16 home games in addition to an exhibition contest against the Russian Red Stars in early January. The Bears will play five non-league home games in addition to the 11 contests against ECAC Hockey opponents, as more than half of their 29 regular season games will be played at Meehan this season.  Brown is home for nine of its first 12 games and the 2012-13 schedule also features seven home contests (Clarkson, Providence, Holy Cross, RPI, Harvard, Yale, and Colgate) with a fan-friendly 4:00 p.m. start time.

After opening the season in late October with the annual Ivy Showcase, hosted by Brown this year, the Bears will make their only two-game trip of the first semester when they travel to Harvard and Dartmouth the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd. Brown will close the month of November with five straight home games, including an ECAC weekend against St. Lawrence and Clarkson (November 9-10), and non-league games against Army and Holy Cross in addition to the 28th annual Mayor's Cup game between Brown and Providence on Saturday, November 24th (4:00).

Brown opens the month of December with a single game at Yale on December 1st and will close out the first semester with a home series against Union and RPI.

The Bears resume play after the exam and holiday break by traveling to Storrs, Connecticut to take part in the UConn Hockey Classic. Brown will face Minnesota State in the first round on December 29th and will meet either AIC or UConn the next day.

Following a home exhibition game against the Russian Red Stars to open the 2013 calendar year on Wednesday, January 2nd, the Bears have a weekend off, before a difficult stretch of the season with two of the longest trips of the year in a span of two weeks. Brown will travel to upstate New York for games at Clarkson and St. Lawrence (January 11-12), before returning home to host Dartmouth and Harvard (January 18-19). The Bears close the month with a trip to central New York, where they will meet Colgate and Cornell (January 25-26).

The Bears open February with three straight home contests, hosting Quinnipiac and Princeton (February 1-2) and Yale (February 9), before taking back-to-back road trips to RPI and Union (February 15-16) and Princeton and Quinnipiac (February 22-23). Brown closes out the 2012-13 regular season at home against Cornell and Colgate (March 1-2).

ECAC Hockey playoffs begin the following weekend with the First Round scheduled for March 8-10. Quarterfinals will be played March 15-17 and the Final Four is scheduled for March 22-23.
