PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown men's hockey junior forward Jesse Fratkin (Burnaby, BC) has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending November 29. A wing, Fratkin had six points in the Bears' two games last week, scoring four goals and assisting two others.
On Tuesday night against Bentley, Fratkin led Brown with a goal, his first of the season and first since February 16, 2008, and an assist, while finishing with a +2 rating. On Saturday night against UConn, Fratkin had a hand in four of Brown's eight goals, scoring his first career hat trick and assisting a fourth goal, while finishing +4. The hat trick was the first for a Brown player since February of 2007 and it marked the first time since November of 2003 that Brown scored eight goals in a single game. Against the Huskies, Fratkin scored first-period goals that gave Brown leads of 1-0 and 3-0. He capped the hat trick in the third period.
Fratkin, who entered the season with two career points, both of which came during the 2007-08 season, now has 7 points (4g, 3a) in the Bears' past three games and is tied for second on the team in scoring.
Brown returns to action tomorrow night, Tuesday December 1, when
it travels up I95 for a 7:00 league match-up with Harvard.
