New Haven, CT - The Brown men's golf team shot a sizzling 302 on the final day of competition at the MacDonald Cup to move from ninth to seventh place in the three-day tournament played at the Yale Golf Club.
The Bears shot a three-day 918 (306-310-302) to finish in a seventh place tie with Central Connecticut, trailing Binghamton (888), Rhode Island (894), Hartford (895), Army (901), Connecticut (901), Yale (905), and finishing ahead of Iona (920), Johnson & Wales-FL (928), Dartmouth (937), Washington & Lee (937), Quinnipiac (943) and Harvard (951).
Freshman Larry Haertel (Greenwich, CT) placed 11th overall with a three-day 222 on the par 70 course, shooting 72-77-73. Close behind was sophomore Lanny Benson (St. Louis, MO), who carded 82-72-74--228 to place 22nd individually.
Senior Robert Chen (Orangeburg, SC) was solid throughout the tournament, placing 27th overall with a three day 230 (74-80-76). Also scoring for the Bears were freshman Ryan Larson (Seattle, WA), who shot 81-81-79--241, and sophomore Aaron Telch (Palo Alto, CA), shot a three-day 243 (79-82-82).
