Riverhead, NY - Coach Michael Hughes' Brown men's golf team improved one place in the standings on the final day of competition at the ECAC Championship, finishing 10th overall with a three-round 934. Only three teams beat the Bears' sizzling 299 score on the final day of play Long Island National Golf Club. Yale captured the team title with a three-round 892, beating Columbia by one stroke.
Senior co-captain Chris Hoffman put together the best individual score on the final day of play, carding a one-under par 70 on the par-71, 6,765 Long Island National course. He placed 19th individually with a three-round 228.
Junior John Giannuzzi also stepped up on the final day of play with a one-over par 72, finishing the tournament at 230, 25th overall. Sophomore Michael Amato, Brown's top scorer on Friday, shot 81 on Saturday to finish with a three-round 238.
Senior co-captain Conor Malloy put together a solid final round, shooting 76 on Saturday to finish at 240 for the tournament. Senior Joe Rued came in at 87 on Saturday, finishing the tournament with a three-round 249.
The Bears will be back in action again next weekend, October 19-20, at the New England Championship on Cape Cod, Mass.
