New Bratain, CT - Picking up where it left off a year ago, the Brown men's golf team continued its climb toward the upper echelon of Northeast golf with a solid fourth place finish at the Central Connecticut Invitational. Coach Ed Hanley's Brown team shot a two-day 599 (299, 300) to finish fourth, just eight shots out of first place Central Connecticut (591). Only Central Connecticut, Army (595) and Boston College (596) finished ahead of the Bears, while the Bears placed ahead of Laval University (603), Sacred Heart (605), Ottawa (607), Dartmouth (611), Boston U. (626), Quinnipiac (627), Fairfield (629), and Holy Cross (629).
The Bears placed two players in the Top 10 individually, senior Danny Wallis (Los Gatos, CA), who finished seventh with a two-day 147 (75, 72), and ninth place finisher Larry Haertel (Greenwich, CT), who shot 76-73--149.
Junior Lanny Benson (St. Louis, MO) placed 16th overall with rounds of 73-77--150, while senior Donny Mowlds (Sacramento, CA) finished 29th with a two-day 153 (75, 78). Freshman Connor Malloy (Rye, NY) shot 82-79--161 in his first collegiate competition.
