Bears Place 14th At Navy Fall Invitational

The Brown men's golf team improved its first round score by nine shots to finish 14th at the Navy Fall invitational, played at the par 71 Naval Academy Golf Club. The Bears shot a second round 309 to finish the two-day tournament at 627. George Washington captured the team title with a two-day 572, followed by Delaware (581), St. Joe's (586), Navy (587), Siena (591), Cornell (596), North Dakota State (599), Penn 600, Navy White (600), St. Francis- PA (603), St. Bonaventure (604), Iona (604), Navy Gold (611), Brown, Navy Gray (630), LaSalle (637), and St. Augustine's (655).

Junior John Giannuzzi came through at the top of the Bears' lineup with a two day 148, shooting a sizzling two-over par 73 on the final day of competition to place 18th individually.

Senior co-captain Chris Hoffman also stepped up in the final round, carding a two-over 73, to complete the tournament at 154.

Senior co-captain Conor Malloy came in at 77 on the second day for a two-round 162. Sophomore Michael Amato shot 86 for the Bears to finish at 163, while freshman Donald Kim came in with a two-day 184 (92, 92).

Before returning to campus, the Bears will drive down to Delaware on Monday to compete in the one-day Rehoboth Beach Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware.
