Portsmouth, RI - Freshman John Giannuzzi (Wellesley, MA) placed second individually at the Northeast Invitational to help Brown to a sixth place finish overall in the 11-team tournament held at the par-72 Green Valley Golf Club in the final competition of the season for the Bears. The Bears finished with a 27-hole score of 455, with URI winning the tournament at 446, followed by Sacred Heart (449), Harvard (453), Quinnipiac (453), central Connecticut (454), Brown, Dartmouth (461), Army (468), Bryant (471), Fordham (482) and Wagner (495).
Giannuzzi shot a one-under 35 on Friday as rain reduced play to nine holes. He came back with a one-over 73 to shoot an even par 108, just one shot out of first place. Junior All-Ivy Larry Haertel (Greenwich, CT) shot 38 and an even-par 72 to place 8th individually at 110.
Junior Ryan Larson (Seattle, WA) came in with a 27-hole mark of 117 (40-77), while All-Ivy sophomore Conor Malloy (Rye, NY) carded 41-80--121. Sophomore Chris Hoffman (Slon, OH) came in at 122 (40-82--122).
