Atlantic City, NJ - Following the first round of the 54 hole Ivy League Championship, the Brown men's Golf team stands in eighth place with an 18-hole team score of 302 at the par-70, 6,559 yard Atlantic City Country Club.
Penn leads the tournament at plus-five, shooting 285 at the historic links style course built in 1897, followed by Columbia (291), Yale (292), Dartmouth, Princeton (294), Harvard (296), Cornell (297) and Brown.
On a gusty day, sophomore Michael Amato is in the thick of the hunt for the individual title after firing a one-over par 71, just three shots off the lead in 7th place. Starting on the back nine, Amato shot a one-under par 34, and came in at 37.
Three Brown players came in at seven-over 77, including co-captains Conor Malloy and Chris Hoffman, and junior John Giannuzzi. Senior Joe Rued had to withdraw due to injury, but is expected back on Saturday.
The Bears will tee-off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning for the second of three rounds. Play concludes with 18-holes on Sunday.
