March 29, 2008

GRASONVILLE, Md - Greeted by cold and blustery conditions and an outstanding field, the Brown men's golf team shot a first day 318 to place 12th out of 19 teams on the first day Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational at the par-72 6,761 Prospect Bay Country Club. UNC Greensboro holds a one shot lead with a 299 team total.

In Mike Hughes' debut as head coach at Brown, his team made the transition from its spring trip in warm Florida, to the cold conditions in Maryland. Senior Larry Haertel led all Brown scorers with a 77, followed by sophomore John Giannuzzi, who came in at 79.

Junior Conor Malloy, who missed the fall season while studying abroad, came in at 80, while junior Chris Hoffman and freshman Michael Amato each shot 82.
