Providence, R.I. - Brown senior captain Nelson Hargrove (Haverford, PA) has been named to the 2014 All-Ivy First Team on the heels of his play at the Ivy League Men's Golf Championship where he finished in a tie for first place.
"Since he arrived on campus, Nelson has worked tirelessly to become a top flight player," said Brown head coach Mike Hughes. "His focus and determination not only served him well at the Ivy Championship, but inspired his teammates to excel and elevate their play as well. I will miss him at the top of the lineup, but know he's on to bigger and better things."
Hargrove turned in a tremendous performance at the Ivy Championship held at the Baltusrol Golf Club, shooting a 54-hole 216 on scores of 70-73-73 at a course that has hosted over 15 USGA Championships. He tied for the 54-hole lead, but lost in a sudden death playoff when he bogeyed the playoff hole, the par 4, 490 yard, first hole, after his second shot wedge sailed over the green and his four-foot par putt slid past the hole.
