South Kent, CT - Brown's men's golf team improved by three places with a third round 300 on the final day of competition at the Hartford Hawk Invitational, placing 10th in the 17 team tournament held at the Bulls Bridge Golf Club. The Bears shot 304-317-300—921 in the 54-hole event.
Rutgers took home the championship trophy with a 54-hole 868, winning by nine shots over host Hartford, who shot 877. Connecticut was third at 890 followed by Loyola –Maryland (896), Temple (898), URI (908), Sacred Heart (911), Bryant (913), Seton Hall (915), Brown (921), LIU (924), St. Joseph's (928), Fairfield (934), Hofstra (934), Holy Cross (946), Iona (958), and UMass-Lowell (968).
Junior Justin Miller (Oakmont, PA) and sophomore Jack Wilson (Fairmont, CA) paced the Bears with a 54-hole 226 to each place 21st individually. Miller shot 76-79-71—226, while Wilson came in at 77-73-76—226.
Senior Nelson Hargrove (Haverford, PA) shot 74-82-77—233 to place 45th individually, while freshman Connor Lynch (Bradenton, FL) contributed with a three-round 236 on scores of 77-83-76. Freshman Chad Carlson (Overland Park, KS) also scored with rounds of 80-83-81—244.
Brown is back in action again on October 5-6 at the Macdonald Cup, held at the Yale Golf Course.
