Brown Finishes 14th At The Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational

Huntingdon Valley, PA – Brown's men's golf team had the upper hand on three other Ivy schools and placed 14th at the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational, played at the Philmont Country Club. The Bears shot 316-321—637 in the 19-team field.

 

Hartford (609) came from 12 shots back on the final day to capture the team title by one shot over Sacred Heart (610). Binghamton placed third (612), followed by Yale (614), Princeton (615), Temple (616), Villanova (617), Connecticut (622), Fordham (626), Columbia (626), Navy (627), LaSalle (628), Drexel (630), Brown (637), Dartmouth (639), Penn (640), Seton Hall (649), Cornell (551), and St. Joseph's (668).

 

Senior Nelson Hargrove paced the Bears and placed 30th individually with a 36-hole 156 on rounds of 77-79.  Junior Peter Callas was close behind after shooting 78-79—157.

 

Senior JD Ardell and freshman Jack Wilson each shot 162, with Ardell shooting 80-82, and Wilson coming in at 81-81.  Sophomore Justin Miller shot 86-84—170.

 

Coach Mike Hughes' team wraps up its fall season next week, October 20-21, at the Ivy League Match-Play Championship, held at the Jasna Polana GC in Princeton, New Jersey.
