Bears 13th At Yale McDonald’s Cup

New Haven, Conn. -  Despite two days of inclement weather, the Brown men's golf team competed at Yale Macdonald's Cup Championship and placed 13th overall at the par 70, 6749 yard Yale Golf Course.  Coach Mike Hughes' team shot solid rounds of 292-299—591, with long hitting senior Nelson Hargrove leading the way with scores of 73-72.

 

Yale shot a 36-hole 564 to capture the team championship by three shots over the University of Hartford (567) and St. John's (567). Notre Dame placed fourth at 569, followed by Harvard (572), central Connecticut (575), Rhode Island (578), St. Edward's (580), Fordham (585), Temple (585), Columbia (589), Sacred Heart (589), Brown (591), Yale II (592), and Holy Cross (595).

 

Brown's first day 292 was led by sophomore Justin Miller with a one-over par 71.  Hargrove shot 73, while freshman Jack Wilson and junior Peter Callas each shot 74.

 

In Sunday's final round, Hargrove's two-over 72 paced the Brown team, with Wilson shooting 73, Callas 76, senior Jack Mylott carding 78 and Miller shooting 80.

 

Hargrove's 36-hole 145 was 29th individually in the 74 player field, while Wilson came in 34th with a 36-hole 147.

 

The Bears will be off next week before resuming play at the Big 5 Championship at the Philmont CC in Philadelphia, PA.
